Fifth Year Accounting Student Scholarship Program

The Texas Public Accountancy Act has established a scholarship program for fifth-year accounting students funded by Texas CPAs who contribute $10 annually through license renewal. The purpose of the Fifth-Year Accounting Student Scholarship Program is to provide financial assistance to students intending to take the CPA examination as Texas applicants and ultimately serve this state's residents.

Priority Deadlines

Priority deadline to submit applications to the Financial Aid Office:

  • Fall semester: November 15
  • Spring semester: January 15
  • Summer semester: April 15

* Note: The scholarship is competitive and is awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis.*

Application Process

  • Complete relevant applications.
  • Submit the final application to Professor Rebecca Trotter (rebeccat@dbu.edu), Assistant Professor and Chair of Accounting at Dallas Baptist University. She will verify eligible applicants and complete Section II of the application.
  • Eligible applicants will be forwarded to the Office of Financial Aid by the specified deadline date for completion of Section III (certification of eligibility & award amount).
  • Students must have a completed financial aid file before applications can be processed.
  • Scholarship awards will be added to the student's financial aid package.
  • Award notifications or revised award notifications, with adjustments, will be sent to the student’s MyDBU account.
  • The maximum lifetime award per student is $12,000. (Rule 520.5)
  • Eligibility is based on a point system that includes financial need, cost of attendance, grade point average (GPA), and residency.
