Rebecca | TriBeta Officer

Rebecca Miller
PRESIDENT

Hi all, I’m Rebecca Miller and a senior this year. I am currently interviewing for medical schools all over Texas. I am a lab assistant and love igniting peoples’ passion for science! For fun, I love to sing karaoke and watch movies. I am an avid cook and am trying to expand my culinary repertoire. My most notable accomplishments in the kitchen include: chili and pumpkin chocolate chip cookies. I graduated from a small Christian high school in Taiwan (where my parents serve as missionaries). I love travelling and experiencing new cultures and peoples.

Bryan | TriBeta Officer

Bryan Schlackman
VICE PRESIDENT

My name is William Bryan Schlackman, and I am a Biology major at Dallas Baptist University. I am 26 years old, grew up in Richardson, Texas, and received a degree in Theology from Dallas Christian College in 2008. I am at DBU, because I decided to change my path to pursue a career as a Physician Assistant, and I will graduate in the Fall 2013 semester from DBU. Prior to becoming a student at DBU, I did mission work in the United States and Europe, I was a firefighter, and I worked in the business world. I love to play guitar, exercise, serve in my church, and spend time with my family. My greatest strength is my beautiful bride, Aubrey, who I married over two years ago in September of 2010. She is my biggest supporter in my pursuit of becoming a PA and could not do this without her. I am so excited to serve the TriBeta student body as Vice President by guiding the students into a better and more joyful understanding of God’s scientific creation via teaching and research. Thank you for giving me this opportunity! Now, let’s get to work!

Amanda | TriBeta Officer

Amanda Vines
SECRETARY

Hello, biology friends! My name is Amanda Vines. I’m a junior from Rowlett, Texas, majoring in Cell Biology. After I get my B.S. from DBU, I hope to go to graduate school to get my Ph.D. and do oncology research, Lord willing. When I’m not studying, I enjoy reading, cross stitching, watching classic movies, and listening to show tunes and worship songs. I’m so excited to serve as your secretary and see what our inaugural year will bring for TriBeta!

Madeleine | TriBeta Officer

Madeleine Newby-Estrella
TREASURER

Hey there, fellow biology scholars! My name is Leine Newby-Estrella, and I’m a junior at DBU. This school is such a blessing for those looking to enrich their education in a nurturing, Christ-centered environment, especially alongside fellow God-loving aspiring scientists influenced by amazing faculty! I am a Cell Biology major and am getting double minors in Chemistry and Kinesiology. Once I graduate, I plan to go to medical school to become an orthopedic surgeon. Ultimately, I would like to get both my MD/PhD sometime after leaving DBU, as I know the Lord has called me to medicine and scientific research. I also play hockey for the school, and love to figure skate, play piano, listen to music, go on adventures, and of course- study! I am so grateful to be the Treasurer for the Omicron Kappa chapter of TriBeta! I look forward to doing my part towards making our new chapter a strong and successful organization. Stay tuned for all the exciting fundraisers we’ll be doing this semester!
